Investment

The largest investor of the Lubeca fleet is Lubeca/Boehe. Our commitment to exceptional ship standards has consistently rewarded our investors, many of whom have been partners for decades. Our track record of resounding success, combined with our transparent approach, continues to raise the bar for future projects and vessels. Our commitment to providing value has resulted in profitable transactions for each ship we have previously sold.

Our newest project, which we are pursuing in cooperation with our partner company Jebsen Shipping Partners, involves several 5200 dwt mini-bulkers. Thanks to a custom design, the ships feature maximum fuel efficiency while at the same time providing the greatest possible cargo capacity.
A total of 13 ships have been ordered with all contracts being effective. Construction commenced in January 2022 for 6 ships to JSP and 7 ships to Lubeca.

The vessels will be delivered starting at the beginning of 2023.

Our team of experienced, long time employees offer complete lump-sum as well as cost-plus-fee crewing. Payroll services, assistance with union negotiations, and minor consulting services related to crewing of oceangoing vessels complement the program.

Lubeca Marine Management GmbH & Co. KG is certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and the ILO Maritime Labour Convention 2006, licensed as an employment agency by the Professional Association for Transportation and Traffic (BG Verkehr), and a member of the International Maritime Employers' Council (IMEC).

History

Lubeca Marine traces its origins back to a ship management company that was founded by the late Capt. Klaus S. Boehe in Hong Kong in 1988.

His son, Jan-Peter Boehe, joined the company three years later, and the company soon developed into a ship holding company. The company acquired its first ship in 1995. Additional, second-hand vessels were purchased in the following years, primarily geared tweendeckers up to 5,000 dwt.

Since 2000 Lubeca Marine has been based in Lübeck, Germany, from where it runs the technical and nautical management for the Lubeca fleet. The company also handles all crewing activities in-house.

Lubeca Marine built its first newbuildings in collaboration with Dipl. Ing. Bernd Neitzel, adding two 17,000 dwt heavy-lift tweendeckers to the Lubeca fleet in 2011.

After working for Lubeca for more than five years, Max Gottwald became a partner of our company in 2011.

In 2015 Jebsen Shipping Partners was founded by the family-owned shipping companies Reederei Becker and Reederei Kahrs from Jork, Reederei Boehe/Lubeca Marine, and Reederei Jebsen from Hong Kong. Jan-Peter Boehe and Max Gottwald have active roles in this joint venture, in addition to their responsibilities at Lubeca.

In 2020 third-generation Jonas Boehe joined Jan-Peter Boehe and Max Gottwald on Lubeca's management team.

Presently, Lubeca operates a fleet of multi-purpose/heavy-lift vessels up to 17,000 dwt, container ships up to 1,300 TEU, and coasters. At the beginning of 2021, the company signed contracts for the construction of several 5,200 dwt eco-freighter newbuildings. The first delivery is expected in 2023.
